Privacy Policy

"Still Fresh" ("the app," "we," "us") is a meal-planning app built and run by a solo independent developer. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it's used, who processes it on our behalf, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little as possible and to be honest about the rest.
Information we collect

Account details. When you sign up we store your email address and a securely hashed password through our authentication provider (Supabase Auth). We use this to create and secure your account and to sign you in.

Your content. The things you create in the app — pantry items, recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, cooking history, and your settings — are stored in our database (Supabase) so they sync to your devices.

Photos and text you submit for processing. When you use camera or text-based features (for example, snapping a photo of groceries or a receipt to stock your pantry, or importing a recipe), the image or text is sent to our server and on to third-party AI services to extract the relevant details. This content is used only to fulfill your request and is not retained by us beyond what's needed to process it.

Barcodes. When you scan a product barcode, the barcode number is sent to our server and looked up against the OpenFoodFacts open database to identify the product.

Anonymous usage analytics (optional). If enabled, the app records anonymous product events — such as cooking a meal or adding a pantry item — through PostHog. These events are tied only to a random account identifier and carry no personal information: never your name, email, or the names of your recipes or ingredients. You can turn this off at any time under Settings → Privacy → "Share anonymous usage data," and no analytics are sent while it's off.
How we use your information
We use your information to provide and run the app: to authenticate you, sync your content across devices, process the photos, text, and barcodes you submit, and — when you've enabled it — understand which features are worth improving. We never sell your personal information.
Service providers who process data for us
The app relies on the following third parties to function. Each processes only the data needed for its role:

Supabase — account authentication, database storage, and file storage for your content.

Vercel — hosts the web app and the server functions your requests pass through.
•
Anthropic (Claude) — reads the photos and text you submit to identify groceries and parse recipes.
•
fal.ai — generates recipe and ingredient illustrations.
•
PostHog — anonymous usage analytics, only when you've enabled them.
•
OpenFoodFacts — resolves scanned barcodes to product information.
•
USDA FoodData Central and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics — provide nutrition and average retail price data (queried by generic food name, not by anything that identifies you).
Generated images
To keep the app fast and affordable, recipe and ingredient illustrations are generated once and cached in shared storage keyed by the generic food name. These images are generic (e.g. a picture of "tomato soup") and are not linked to your account or personal information.
Data retention and deletion
Your account and content are kept for as long as your account exists. The photos, text, and barcodes you submit for processing are not retained beyond fulfilling the request. You can permanently delete your account and all of the content associated with it at any time from Settings → Delete account, or by contacting us at the email below and we will action the request.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Your content is protected by row-level security so that each account can access only its own data. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children's privacy
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we'll revise the effective date above. Material changes will be reflected here at the same public address.
